Supportive family interactions, caring relationships, and connections in the community are associated with reductions in chances of poor mental health, even among those with a history of adverse childhood experiences. Healthcare professionals in primary care settings possess a unique role in building positive relationships with patients and families that can foster healthy coping habits and positive long-term health outcomes.
This presentation will inform interdisciplinary healthcare professionals on how to approach patients and families in a Trauma Informed manner that enhances understanding, collaboration, and shared decision making. Specific skills, techniques, and resources will be identified to enhance individuals and families to survive, adapt, and grow through chronic stressors.
