The Behavioral Health Observation Rating Scale (ORS) is a groundbreaking evaluation tool developed through years of collaboration with a dedicated cohort of Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) across a multi-organizational network. Designed to standardize the assessment of BHC skill development, the ORS helps supervisors identify strengths, target areas for growth, and deliver focused feedback. This certification empowers supervisors to formally “certify” their BHC supervisees—bringing prestige and standards-based recognition to the BHC workforce.
What You Will Learn
You will learn how to effectively evaluate and coach clinicians within the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model using the Observer Rating Scale (ORS), a tool designed for real-time use in clinical settings. The course teaches you how to assess core PCBH competencies such as team communication, efficient documentation, and advanced clinical techniques, including Motivational Interviewing and contextual assessment.
Through guided observation of live and recorded patient interactions, you will develop the skills to produce structured ratings and actionable feedback that strengthen Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) clinical performance. By the end of the course, you will be prepared to serve as a trained evaluator and mentor, supporting clinician development and contributing to clinical excellence within CFHA’s PCBH Clinical Competency Certification program.
