Certification in BHC ORS Administration Course

The Behavioral Health Observation Rating Scale (ORS) is a groundbreaking evaluation tool developed through years of collaboration with a dedicated cohort of Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) across a multi-organizational network. Designed to standardize the assessment of BHC skill development, the ORS helps supervisors identify strengths, target areas for growth, and deliver focused feedback. This certification empowers supervisors to formally certify one BHC under their supervision—bringing prestige and standards-based recognition to the BHC workforce—while also preparing them to independently guide and certify future BHCs as part of their ongoing supervisory role.

Purpose-built for real-time use in clinical settings, the ORS evaluates core PCBH competencies, including team communication, documentation efficiency, and advanced clinical techniques such as Motivational Interviewing and contextual assessment. As an evaluator, you’ll gain a unique advantage by observing and assessing both live and recorded patient interactions, producing actionable scores and structured feedback to strengthen BHC clinical performance.

Elevate your role as a mentor and evaluator in the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model through CFHA’s endorsed certification program. Earning this certification validates your expertise in coaching clinicians and positions you as a leader in CFHA’s PCBH Clinical Competency Certification initiative—helping shape the future of clinical excellence in integrated care.

Course Details

This course is comprised of 2 parts:

Part 1: Participate in a dynamic 6-hour live Zoom training, held on June 11 and 12 from 11 AM – 2 PM ET. This interactive workshop will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to apply the BHC ORS effectively in your practice setting.

Part 2: Put your skills into action by selecting and observing one BHC in your organization. Using the ORS, you’ll complete a comprehensive evaluation of their performance. Seasoned facilitators will provide personalized feedback to deepen your learning and support your growth as an evaluator.

Upon completion, CFHA will issue a certificate authorizing your use of the BHC ORS and formally certifying one BHC under your supervision. Going forward, this training equips you to use the ORS independently to assess and certify additional BHCs as part of your regular supervisory process—without needing CFHA involvement in future certifications.
