This course helps clinicians understand how small changes in behavior and psychological flexibility can lead to significant improvements in patient outcomes. The training emphasizes Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT), which adapts traditional ACT principles to brief formats that are more practical in health care settings.
This course is for social workers, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, medical family therapists, psychiatrists, primarycare providers, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
What You Will Learn
This course helps medical and mental health clinicians learn and practice Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT), a brief intervention that builds skills for greater awareness, choice, and values-aligned action. Participants will explore creative, effective interventions for clients facing complex and co-occurring challenges, including mental health, substance use, relationship, and medical concerns. The course emphasizes clinical work as a meaningful, creative endeavor while also offering opportunities for clinicians to use FACT to enhance their own well-being. Through experiential learning, small groups, and role-play, participants will build confidence, effectiveness, and day-to-day joy in their work.
