This REC and Diversity Committee co-sponsored webinar will offer a conceptual overview and critique of the use of race in healthcare research. Dr. Ali Sewell, Associate Professor of Sociology at Emory University, has extensive experience at the intersection of healthcare and research on race. They have taught courses on Quantifying Race and Ethnicity, Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, Racial & Ethnic Relations, and Theories of Race and Racism. If you are interested in a deeper understanding of how race is used in research and its limitations, you will not be disappointed.
