CFHA's Newest Board Member
The CFHA Board of Directors would like to thank the outstanding nominees and involved members who participated in our recent election. We are thrilled to announce our newest board member, Bill Gunn PhD. Here is Dr. Gunn's statement from our ballot:
I have been a member of CFHA since its early beginnings and have been to all but two of the national/regional meetings. CFHA was born out of a desire from a group of family medicine educators to advance integrated care outside of educational settings. I have been a fervent supporter of the organization; however have not participated on the Board level. I am currently on the membership committee. I continue to work in Family Medicine education and am the Director of Primary Care Behavioral Health at the NH/Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency. In addition to my educational role, I also provide direct service and supervise masters, pre-doctoral, and post-doctoral interns at our health center.
I have presented aspects of our work in New Hampshire at CFHA that has, in turn, helped us to continue to develop our model. I have also benefited greatly from the presentations and even more from the networking and relationships provided within CFHA over the years.
Five years ago, I was part of a statewide legislative committee effort to put together the needs for New Hampshire in terms of mental health in general. There were five subcommittees involved and I was co-chair of the Integrated Care subcommittee. We published a document that has helped to focus policy in this area. As a follow up to this publication, I have convened all the integrated care projects into a "learning community" in New Hampshire on a bimonthly basis. This effort has helped us locally to share best practices and learn from each other.
