CFHA – Charlotte Update
September 23, 2016
To our CFHA Community,
We are closely monitoring the recent protests in Charlotte as we continue to prepare for the 2016 CFHA Conference. We have learned that although our conference hotel, the Charlotte Westin, is in the vicinity of the protests, it has not been directly damaged and continues to conduct business as usual.
At this point, CFHA will continue to move forward with no changes to our conference program or location and hope for a peaceful resolution to this heartbreaking situation. Should violent riots or protests continue over the next week, we will convene an emergency board meeting to address a plan of action.
Thank you for your patience.
Peace to all,
Polly Kurtz, CFHA Executive Director
Charlotte's Got a Lot
Charlotte is a major city and commercial hub in North Carolina. Its modern city center (Uptown) is home to the Levine Museum of the New South, which explores post–Civil War history in the South, and hands-on science displays at Discovery Place. Uptown is also known for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which celebrates the sport of auto racing through interactive exhibits and films.
Active attendees can break for kayaking, whitewater rafting or canyon zip-lining at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, a renowned outdoor recreation and adventure sports facility.
The NC Music Factory is Charlotte’s newest and hottest venue with live music, trendy nightclubs, hip bars, upscale dining and a comedy club, all in one location just north of Center City. Right in Center City, the EpiCentre is a hub for shopping, dining and entertainment.
The Queen City's dining options are practically endless, and all kinds of delicious. Restaurants in Charlotte NC offer a surprisingly diverse mix of cuisine: Feast on barbecue or farm-to-table fare; savor international cuisine or interesting twists on American favorites. From Uptown to NoDa, and fine dining to casual fare, our comprehensive list of restaurants will give you a real taste of Charlotte!
