Integrated health care is booming in response to the continued call for improved healthcare quality, better patient experience, and value-based payment models. Medical and behavioral health care professionals are developing creative ways to work side-by-side to meet their patients’ needs wherever they may seek care. With any innovation there must be a foundation upon which to build. Integrated behavioral health flourishes when there is fidelity in the application of proven key clinical, operational, and financial strategies and creativity and flexibility in response to the needs of the unique populations served. Although, the fundamentals of integrated behavioral health have been refined through decades of practiced methodology and research, there is always room for creativity and innovation within the framework.
Patients can now find team-based healthcare in a variety of settings including primary and tertiary health care settings, specialty mental health and substance use disorder clinics, school-based health centers, community-based facilities, all manner of workplace (including migrant worker fields and camps), and in their homes. These new models of care are offering unprecedented opportunities to engage a greater number and diverse range of professionals to join integrated care teams in order to meet the complex needs of their patients.
This conference will celebrate the blend of emerging models and the continued evolution of current best practices, with a focus on quality and fidelity. Participants will have an opportunity to exchange ideas with and learn from the leaders of integrated behavioral health care practice, training, research, and policy, while sharing new and exciting innovations. Participants will leave the conference with hands-on skills and real-world information that can be applied and practiced when returning to their very important work.
