To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Jacqueline Hidalgo, M.S., and I am a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Albizu University in Miami, Florida. I am recruiting participants for my doctoral dissertation. The aim of the study is to assess for healthcare providers’ (rheumatologists and primary care providers (MD, PA, NP) knowledge of and attitudes towards psychological factors involved in the development and maintenance of fibromyalgia, and of non-pharmacological treatments for fibromyalgia.
To be eligible for participation in this study, participants must: 1) be a primary care provider or a rheumatologist; 2) have treated at least one patient who has fibromyalgia; and 3) be currently in practice. This study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at Albizu University (IRB#: 2015 027).
Participants will need access to the internet to complete an online survey via Survey Monkey. The survey will include basic demographic questions such as your age and gender, and your clinical experience with patients who have fibromyalgia. In addition, you will be asked questions regarding your attitudes and knowledge of the psychological factors involved in the development and maintenance of fibromyalgia, and of non-pharmacological treatments for fibromyalgia.
You will not be asked to provide any identifying information; therefore, your responses will be anonymous. The survey is estimated to take 15 minutes to complete. Although there is no direct benefit for participants to complete the survey, their participation will advance scientific knowledge in the treatment of individuals with fibromyalgia. If you have any questions about this study, please contact me or my dissertation chair, Dr. Marilyn Cugnetto.
